Recipes in Your Own Words
A structured recipe journal for writing down meals as you're shown them, in language you'll understand later. Made for ADHD and Autistic adults, and anyone with learning disabilities, dyslexia, or comprehension and memory differences that make standard recipes hard to follow.
Estimated Transit Time: 7 - 12 days.
Description
Being shown how to cook something is the easy part. Someone who knows what they're doing, a parent, a friend, a support worker, walks you through it and it makes sense in the moment. The problem is next week, when they're not there and all you've got is a standard recipe that assumes knowledge ("season to taste"), skips steps ("meanwhile, prepare the sauce"... meanwhile when?), and expects your working memory to hold the ambiguity.
This notebook closes that gap: while you're being shown, or right after, you write each step down in your own words, in the way you understand it. Later, you're not decoding a stranger's instructions. You're following your own, written by the version of you who had help in the room.
